Spirit at ABRHS: Dress-Up Day and Hoco
BY SOPHIA SAGHIR '24
The past month has ushered in a renewed sense of school spirit at ABRHS. Before Thanksgiving break, upperclassmen gathered in the Regan Gym for a beloved AB tradition: Senior Dress-Up Day. Seniors were invited to participate in costume contests, trivia, and relay races. From ponies to founding fathers, here are Senior Dress-Up Day 2022’s best looks.
Overall Best Costume - The Cops The Most Original Costume - Days of the Week (Left to right: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday)
Best Homemade Costume - The Clown
Best Group Costume - The Founding Fathers
The Most Creative Costume - My Little Pony
Most Entertaining Costume - Elsa
Best Hair and Makeup - Guy Fieri
After Thanksgiving break, planning for Homecoming 2022 commenced. Despite initial reservations about the event’s success, Student Council sold over 500 tickets, and attendees left with bellies full, smiles wide, and Student-Council-taken Polaroids in hand. But the highlight of the night, agreed many, was the electric atmosphere of Stearns Gym, set alight by pop hit after pop hit. Kéra Matthews ’24 shared her thoughts: “It was my first dance and it did not disappoint! The music was good—the photo booth, even better.”
With the success of these events—one traditional, one new—ABRHS celebrates community. High school is short; make the most out of your time here! One day, you might look back fondly of your years at ABRHS, a relic of a time long gone. Or, perhaps, you’ll guffaw at the memory of a fifteen-member Guy Fieri troupe that graced your eyes one chilly November morning. You may forget the exact words spoken or the antiquated jokes cracked, but, if you look back at your Polaroids, you’ll remember youth, laughter, and community.
