Are you looking for a local job? If so, look no further: a new website called townXchange by Tholyl Technologies started by Kugan Anandakugan and Siva Ramanan is launching on June 1st. Both Kugan and Siva are committed to helping students gain real-world experience as active Acton residents. They have noticed a lost connection between students and their community, especially concerning students’ integration into the workforce, and want to bridge this gap. Overall, this application helps to connect high school students to local jobs and internships. To get started, townXchange requires students, businesses, and residents to create their account. Then, students may apply to job postings made by the businesses and residents on the website. Finally, applications go directly to the poster, allowing for direct communication.
This application allows businesses and local citizens to connect with you, easing the process of job hunting, as it is often difficult to enter the workforce due to poor community outreach. This is also beneficial for the community because it is more straightforward to find students, such as yourself, willing to help! For example, searching for jobs such as cashiering or pet care will be faster and more accessible for students to apply for, further increasing the number of students working for businesses. Additionally, home jobs needed by residents such as tutors or babysitters can be easily found, increasing efficiency for both the residents posting and students searching for jobs. Most importantly, many of us go outside the town to work or are unable to find opportunities to work because we are unaware of the local jobs available. townXchange provides a link between these opportunities and the students who are motivated to take advantage of them. Another problem students face in our community is the issue of safety. For example, while finding small jobs such as mowing a lawn, you cannot reach farther than your own neighborhood due to being uncomfortable going to an unknown house. townXchange uses reliable software to verify residents’ authenticity through a paid CORI check, a criminal record review, if they elect in, allowing them to reach more students. This allows students to work for people around Acton while feeling safe. We are excited to see how you take advantage of the opportunities presented by townXchange throughout your time as AB students!
