A Breakdown of the Spots in School for Freshmen
BY HARIKA GOTETI '24
The symphony of bustling footsteps, chattering voices, and garbled announcements can be a dizzying experience, especially for those who are just beginning to navigate the school’s halls. Luckily, there are several locations in our school where one can discover their niche and have a sense of ease, as it gives students a place that allows them to express themselves outside of the classroom.
South Commons located near the counseling center is an underrated gem. South Commons is a quiet area that is great for studying or taking a break. The artwork in this area is truly inspiring and adds a touch of creativity to the space; our school's art department is incredibly talented and has the remarkable ability to make this space more relaxing. It could also provide a relaxing distraction from anxiety relating to academics. If you're looking for a peaceful spot to recharge, South Commons is a great choice. The cafeteria at our school is more than just a place to grab a bite to eat. It has a wide variety of delicious and healthy food options; regardless of the skeptical views of the food, you can always find something that satisfies your cravings with the aid of the friendly staff. Plus, the cafeteria is a great place to meet new people and make new friends. I personally have met new friendly faces from hanging out in the cafeteria, so whether you're in the mood for a quick snack or a full meal, the cafeteria is a perfect place to find your rhythm in a new school setting. My personal favorite area of the school is West Commons due to its peaceful atmosphere, as well as its spacious feel perfect for claustrophobic individuals like me. Many students have been spotted napping here, which I cannot blame them for, as the serene atmosphere is perfect for recharging your batteries. West Commons provides a peaceful break from the crowds and noise of campus life. If you want some quiet time to yourself, this underappreciated area of the school is definitely worth exploring. At our school, East Commons is a lively area of activity that is located near the auditorium. It is spacious and inviting, making it perfect for hanging out. With lots of people around, it is always a lively and exciting place to be. If you like a chaotic (in a good way) atmosphere, then East Commons is definitely the place for you. It is a welcoming place before and after school and there is always something exciting happening there. Lastly, the library is an amazing resource that offers countless books, journals, and online resources. It is a perfect place to study, research, and learn. Whether you’re looking for a quiet corner to read a book or a collaborative space to work on a group project, the library has something for you. The librarians are also super friendly and knowledgeable, and are always willing to help. As a senior, once I graduate I will definitely miss the affable nature of the librarians at our school. However, it is important to obey the rules regarding food and other things in the library to help maintain a clean and healthy environment. By following the rules, we can help make our school a better place for all. This year, as we take another (or possibly first!) step into the ABRHS building, take a moment to enjoy the view. Our school has many important things to offer us, from amazing resources like the library to the vibrant hangout spots like East Commons. However, it is important that we give back to our school by being responsible and respectful so that we can enjoy these resources for years to come. |
