Letter From the EICs
BY EMILY XU '23 & ADI RAMAN '23
It’s that time of year, folks: the time when heat waves and dog days are near their end, and the air remains heavy (with existential dread instead of moisture). Back-to-School season! But perk up, kiddos, and turn those frowns upside down; The Spectrum is back and busy, eager to shovel loads of new content down your eager throats and into your gullets.
You know us, you love us, we’re Emily and Adi. If you’re a returning subscriber, we hope that you remember our mission as two young debutantes on the rise: to share the voices of willing writers with all of you readers to engage you as part of the AB community. If you’re new to the high school, welcome, and now you know what our mission is! High school can be a treacherous path of uncertainty, a pedantic and pallid presence in the lives of adolescents. In other words, high school is no walk in the park. Nevertheless, we hope that we can make it just a teensy bit better with our bimonthly paper. Read our articles, do the crosswords, and get engaged! In all seriousness, there are still many points of concern in the AB community and the nation at large. With a tense political climate and continued discrimination in our school, The Spectrum’s writers also hope to create more insight on these issues as much as they do on lighthearted topics. Our goal has always been to cover a spectrum of ideas and points of view, and we hope that some of these articles will strike a chord within you to become more involved in the community as well. Enough of our chatter! Read on, and see what lays deeper inside these pages… if you dare. Stay curious, Emily and Adi |
