Letter from the EICs

What is school?... No, really—we’re genuinely asking. With the long days of online classes blending into the even longer days of summer vacation, we haven’t walked the hallowed halls of ABRHS in six months. As elderly rising seniors, our memory of high school has nearly faded. Where is East Commons? How does one study? What is time, and how does one manage it?
Thankfully, our dedicated staff members overcame their quarantine blues to answer (most of) these questions in our Back-to-School Issue. We usually write this issue to ease freshmen worries, but this upcoming year of hybrid and remote learning remains a big mystery to upperclassmen, too. Though we still have our typical tips and tricks for underclassmen, we hope our other articles on recent school changes will reassure students in these undoubtedly turbulent times. Don’t worry if school-related content brings you anxiety though: we also have articles reminiscent of our seasonal issues, from love advice to reviews on the latest Netflix releases.
Though we wish we could meet in person and indulge in Trader Joe’s snacks together this year, we still have our beloved advisors Ms. Hammond and Ms. Kennedy, a keen staff, and Zoom. Yes, COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc, but we find comfort knowing that it won’t derail our plans. All in all, we’re excited to continue publishing our newspaper, and we hope you stick around for another great year at The Spectrum!
