Farewell to Seniors
BY THE SPECTRUM STAFF
Dear Anjali (Queen of Lunches),
From your humble basement to the Mac Lab, you never fail to be a gracious and welcoming presence during Spectrum meetings. Thank you for always being so helpful and kind whenever we have questions or need help with writing. We could only wish to be as cool and funny as you are, but unfortunately we are not. In fact, we idolized you as freshmen and still do. You are such an important part of our team and we all will have no idea what to do without you.
You’re also really great at interviewing the many people we talked to during our Reporting Team adventures. We would have never gotten our article done last year without your speedy leadership techniques. We are so grateful to have you as our role model and we could only hope to do as well with the Reporting Team as you did. Although, we do promise that we will not let any “uwu”s or emojis in articles go unnoticed by editors (yes, Julia will be cancelled if she does that again).
Stay sassy,
Neha and Prisha
Dear Serena (Queen of Spreadsheets),
Your legacy at The Spectrum is immortalized in your spreadsheets, which we have so shamelessly copy-pasted. Since Publicity and Finance, we have been mooching off of your skillful use of conditional formatting and aesthetic gradients. Thanks for shoving Tik Tok down our throats during our Back-to-School pow wow at Anjali’s house, I (Anushka) am now addicted. I’ll leave you multiple fairy comments to make you laugh queen.
You’re always on top of things with your fancy Macbook Pro, and we at The Spectrum will miss your firm but kind “nagging” in the Chief Staff group chat. You’ve always been a great leader, and you have always been passing down your leadership to me (I still remember bus leaders :D). We have received the honorary EIC torch, but maybe you could throw us your torch from Harvard? That would be very cash money. It would also be very cash money of you to give us some spicy deals down at The Crimson.
Thanks for all this cash money,
Anushka and Michelle
Dear Kirtana (Queen of Turtlenecks),
It was a fateful day when we met in a classroom filled with French words. You’re my only old friend (and that will probably always be true). Through projects (in which I fell on the floor laughing), my mediocre presenting skills, a couple (too many) mental breakdowns and late-night existential crises, and some essays unleashed upon poor, unsuspecting freshmen by the lovely Mr. Mishrikey, I’m glad that you stuck with me because I was definitely stuck to you, in the more annoying sense.
Really though, you’re a pretty cool lady, and you’ll only get cooler when you have a British accent (I also can’t believe how old you’re getting! College?!). I feel blessed to have you as a guiding force in my life, and know that I will try to remember what you told me (although my brain is rather small). Your willingness to help others and go above and beyond (flashback to that tragic Mish essay) makes me truly believe that you will do something great and be a kind, meaningful member of society.
Always stay intellectual and classy!
Jasmine
Dear Michael (Literal Living Legend),
I (Neha) met you during the first Reporting Team meeting of my sophomore year. Since then, you introduced me to the world of news and helped me improve as a writer, researcher, and interviewer. I now pride myself on being able to understand the complex phrases you use in your writing. :) Thanks for always being there when I message you for writing tips and clarifications. Also, thanks for accepting my friend request on Facebook even though I forced you to.
I (Prisha) am greatly appreciative of your constant help with articles and most importantly, teaching me/writing the entire conclusion paragraph for me! I am very glad that you introduced me to the reporting team as well, as I would’ve never learned so many random facts about Chapter 40B.
For the most part, we are very grateful that you put up with our pettiness and lack of conclusion-writing skills. Thank you so much for always being the editor we could count on whenever we are scrambling at the last minute for articles. We will try our hardest to honor and appreciate the Reporting Team as much as you have. Please continue to reply if we spam the group chat.
Always stay motivated like Agent P,
Neha and Prisha
Dear Emily (Prince of Nigeria),
You have really cool Fortnite backgrounds and Sophie wishes that she could be as much of a Fortnite god at Fortnite as you are (probably never going to happen). We will forever remember you as the greatest Fortnite legend and (most likely) best player in layout. Thanks for letting us torture the plastic baby we found in the Mac lab, spiking it off the ground was probably a large disturbance. You have super cool vibes. Thanks for coercing us into joining layout (it was totally you and Amber and not the snacks), and then teaching us how to get laid (out). Oh, and thanks for making the layout for n00bz guides because we really are n00bz. Also we really appreciate the well wishes and encouragement on failing volleyball tryouts and getting Rat King in the Nutcracker (respectively). We’ll be sure to do our best, and also try our best to keep layout afloat (and get more n00bz).
Good luck at college next year!
Milena and Sophie
PS please help us (and don’t block us) when we don’t know how to do anything next year :D
Dear Amber (Prince of China),
Thanks for teaching us undercover n00bz. We were supposed to be able to know how to do things by now, but we really don’t (that’s not your fault though). When Sophie found the baby during layout week and we were torturing it, you didn’t get annoyed with us for not doing our jobs, so thanks for that. We really appreciate your chill vibes in layout, along with the safe space for teacher rants. We are also very grateful for your well wishes, like wishing Milena luck on failing volleyball tryouts and telling Sophie to get Rat King (we’ll do our best). Milena thinks you have a good taste in music (I watched the Married to the Music MV for the first time over your shoulder and it has scarred me for life). You also have amazing skill in coercion, we totally joined layout because of that and not the snacks. With all that said, please don’t block us next year, we’re going to need a lot of help. We’ll try our best to keep layout afloat but no promises.
Good luck in college next year! Hugs not drugs (or drugs not hugs, whatever you prefer)!
Milena and Sophie
