Dessert Morning Routines
BY NOUSHI JOSHI '26
I woke up today like I always do, but when I went to text my friends good morning, they told me something was wrong: they had turned into sweet treats and picked up all of their mannerisms! I vlogged about their experiences turning into deserts; here’s how each of their days went.
Sugar Cookie: My friend Sugar Cookie follows a basic morning routine; what can I say, she’s a simple gal! She wakes up from one of those old-timey mechanical alarm clocks, brushes her teeth with Crest toothpaste, puts on sweatpants, and has Frosted Flakes for breakfast. Even though she’s a plain cookie, bits and pieces of unexpected flavor sometimes peek through her personality: she is the most detail-oriented person—I mean treat—you’ll meet. Sugar Cookie loves Frosted Flakes for its subtly sweet-yet-balanced crunch, and she always notices when a chocolate chip cookie is missing from the jar in the kitchen. In terms of school life, Sugar Cookie is quiet, but she has a tight-knit group of friends she is dedicated to. Bubble Tea: Bubble Tea wakes up with a wide main-character yawn. Their meticulously planned morning routine includes filling up their water bottle with lime slices and sparkling water, journaling an agenda for the day, and getting dressed at the crack of dawn. For breakfast, Bubble Tea opts for an on-the-go apple before heading to school. Although Bubble Tea seems organized, their personality is anything but. They’re indecisive and are often left stuck between choices. Bubble Tea has a colorful personality, putting them in main character status. They have a borderline unhealthy love of complicated Starbucks orders and a messy room that they haven’t cleaned since March 2020. Bubble Tea loves playing sports, hanging out with friends, taking pride in their lively energy! Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream: Mint Chocolate Chip wakes up in an extremely organized and minimalistic room, with a need to always be clean and fresh. This treat is a natural early bird; they make the bed two seconds after waking up, get their backpack ready for the day, and go downstairs to enjoy some hot, delicious oatmeal. Mint Chocolate Chip appreciates the tiniest details in life, and they love to see the glass half-full. Occasionally, Mint Chocolate Chip puts sweet hot cocoa mix into their oatmeal or wears matching intergalactic cat socks, but it’s never without a reason. In terms of school life, Mint Chocolate Chip has a small and very close group of friends that like doing lowkey activities like reading books or staying in and binging Harry Potter movies. Mint Chocolate Chip can be controlling and clean, but they’re also a wonderful listener. Puff Pastry: Puff Pastry immediately checks Instagram upon waking up. Half of their room is filled with messy papers, including (but not limited to) Geometry homework and flyers for their up-and-coming protest in front of town hall. With puff pastries’ multi-dimensional folds, it’s clear that they’re full of so many ideas: they’re always scrambling to get things done! However, Puff Pastry is a skilled multitasker and is the most productive out of the desserts. Puff Pastry cares about what is right and wants to make a difference, but because they deflate if taken out of the oven too fast, this treat often feels overwhelmed. In terms of school life, Puff Pastry lies between introverted and extroverted. They are not afraid of being bold and confident and look people directly in the eye when speaking, but they gain burnout within an hour of socializing. Sometimes it's a normal morning, and sometimes your best friends have turned into desserts: that's just how the cookie crumbles! |
